A group of ten found guilty of digital abuse against Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has found guilty ten people for perpetrating the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the partner of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.

The defendants faced accusations of circulating fabrications regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to publishing malicious remarks about the pair's 24-year age gap.

The court handed down suspended jail terms of up to eight months to the convicted individuals. The full ruling has yet to be released.

A persistent false narrative claiming that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has been in circulation since her husband's initial election in 2017.

This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons pursuing a libel case in the US against political commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's biological sex.

Their legal filing states that Owens ignored any factual proof contradicting her allegations choosing instead to platforming known conspiracy theorists.

Owens has often echoed these assertions on her show and online platforms, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her insistence that Mrs. Macron was born a man.

Brigitte Macron first met her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his high school.

The two married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was 54.
