The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 years after the original Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and bringing viewers to iconic figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys
In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is why Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items find good homes.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
